Why does my Dell Vostro 1520 Laptop always freeze when its plugged in?
It only freezes when its plugged in and the only way the restart it is to turn it off/ put it back on. It NEVER happends when its running on battery
I wonder if it is overheating. When most laptops are running on battery power only, they automatically underclock the processor to save power (unless set not to). By running the processor at much less than full capacity, less heat is generated.
How old is your laptop, and when was the last time it was opened up to have the dust bunnies removed from the fan and heatsink fins? This should be done at least once a year. And never use a laptop on soft surfaces such as beds, pillows, sofas, carpeting, or even a lap. This blocks airflow to the fan and causes overheating.
